Tropical island getaway seems to be in demand today as many travellers including myself are continually looking for new islands to be visited and explored. Among the small islands I have encountered, some are close at hand to crowded urban populations. I am always amazed at the way these islands manage to deliver their compelling serenity and natural beauty so close to city life.
Your idea of a perfect island holiday may be to relax, soak and indulge in cocktails or a favourite book on a white sandy beach away from the crush and rigours of working life. It may be a more active enjoyment of the natural realms of island and marine environments. Whatever the wants, our five ‘Best Small Tropical Islands’ are sure to provide you with some compelling choices.
As a permanent resident on Bali, I love the place for its different natural shades of paradise and excitement. My contentment here does not prevent me from wanting to broaden my horizons and discover, both within Indonesia and other parts of Asia, places that offer their own versions of paradise.
In this edition, along with some tropical holiday destinations such as Karimun Jawa, Raja Ampat and Tioman Island, there are more destinations to consider. Here we feature both Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. On Bali of course there is a never ending supply of established and new dining venues that make the island famous as a taste destination. In this issue we look at Cuca,Townhouse, Waka Bar & Restaurant and the classic Bumbu Bali.
For those of you looking for some indulgent pampering or specific therapies we present some of the names that make Bali one of the world’s best known spa destinations. Featured in this edition are Tjakra7 Spa, Nirwana Spa and Araminth Spa that shine for their range of massages and treatments.
We hope you enjoy this edition and wish you happy island hopping!
